Zelensky vows expanded strikes at Russia
In a Telegram post on Sunday, Zelensky revealed he met with Kirill Budanov, head of Ukraine’s military intelligence, saying Kyiv is closely monitoring Russia’s “main pain points.” He promised to deliver “appropriate blows” aimed at “significantly reducing” Moscow’s military capabilities.
Zelensky also confirmed that Ukraine is sharing intelligence with Western allies as they work together on “joint defense solutions.”
Echoing this stance, Ukraine’s commander-in-chief, Aleksandr Syrsky, told reporters that Kyiv plans to “increase the scale and depth” of its strikes against Russian military sites deep inside the country.
Earlier this month, Ukrainian intelligence executed a coordinated assault on multiple Russian airbases across five regions stretching from Murmansk in the Arctic to Irkutsk in Siberia. The operation, known as ‘Spiderweb,’ reportedly involved dozens of kamikaze drones equipped with first-person view technology. Some drones were launched from commercial trucks covertly brought close to the targets inside Russia.
The strikes, said to have been planned over more than a year and a half, primarily targeted Russia’s strategic aviation assets. Moscow’s Defense Ministry reported that several aircraft at bases in Murmansk and Irkutsk caught fire following the attacks.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has condemned the drone strikes, accusing Ukraine of attempting to undermine the peace process through such military actions.
