Jordan’s Crown Prince to bring back National Military Service Programme
Speaking at King Abdullah II Gardens in Irbid, the Crown Prince stressed that Jordanian youth must be ready to serve and protect their homeland. He added that those who previously took part in the programme recognize the value of such an experience, according to reports.
His Royal Highness highlighted the role of the initiative in reinforcing national identity and deepening the sense of belonging among young people. He explained that joining the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army not only cultivates discipline but also helps shape character.
The Crown Prince noted that he had earlier instructed the government to cooperate with relevant partners to design a renewed version of the National Military Service Programme. He added that it will be rolled out according to a structured plan, with specific details to be revealed at a later stage.
The discussion also addressed issues relevant to youth, including technology, entrepreneurship, community volunteer work, and vocational and technical training.
Participants welcomed the Crown Prince’s move to reinstate the programme, underscoring its role in promoting active citizenship, fostering responsibility, and building strong national identity. They also commended his support for vocational and technical education, emphasizing its importance in equipping young Jordanians with the skills needed to enter the job market.
