Erdogan says Turkey to presume sending humanitarian aid to Gaza

(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Monday that Türkiye continues delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza despite “various disruptions caused by Israel,” warning that regional security remains threatened as long as Palestine remains under occupation.

Speaking after a Cabinet meeting in Ankara, Erdogan stressed that no country in the region can be secure while Palestinians continue to suffer and a Palestinian state has yet to be established.

The Turkish Red Crescent recently sent its 18th Goodwill Ship, carrying approximately 800 tons of aid — including winter blankets, staple foods, and other essentials — which arrived at Egypt’s al-Arish port Friday en route to Gaza. The organization also provides daily hot meals to 35,000 people in Gaza and supports hospitals and healthcare operations run by the Palestinian Red Crescent.

Although a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel has been in place since October 10, Erdogan noted that Israel continues to violate the agreement, causing hundreds of Palestinian casualties. Since October 2023, Israeli attacks have killed more than 69,000 people — mostly women and children — and injured over 170,000, leaving Gaza nearly uninhabitable.

"Hamas remains committed to the agreement it signed despite all provocations from the Netanyahu government and is fulfilling its obligations.

We also see that the US administration, under President Trump, is taking a constructive approach on this issue," Erdogan said.

The president highlighted Türkiye’s broader regional approach, promoting peace, justice, stability, and shared prosperity along its southern borders, from Iraq to Syria. On Syria, he welcomed the country’s progress in international relations and reaffirmed commitment to the March 10 Accord, stating: "Türkiye is prepared to provide all necessary support for a peaceful resolution of this issue."
