US President Insists on Single Acceptable Plan for Iran Negotiations

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that there is only one multi-point proposal deemed acceptable to end the conflict with Iran, and that it will be addressed privately in upcoming negotiations, according to reports.

Just hours after a two-week ceasefire mediated by Pakistan took effect, Trump described the proposal as “reasonable, and can easily be dispensed with.”

“Numerous Agreements, Lists, and Letters are being sent out by people that have absolutely nothing to do with the U.S.A. / Iran Negotiation, in many cases, they are total fraudsters, charlatans, and worse,” Trump said on his social media platform.

“There is only one group of meaningful 'points' that are acceptable to the United States, and we will be discussing them behind closed doors during these Negotiations. These are the points that are the basis on which we agreed to a ceasefire,” he added.

Washington and Tehran agreed to a temporary ceasefire on Tuesday, pausing a war that had unsettled Gulf and global markets and raised concerns over the security of regional energy infrastructure and shipping lanes.

Trump announced Tuesday that he had agreed “to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks” to allow diplomatic efforts to progress. The announcement came less than two hours before a deadline he had set for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and accept an agreement or face what he described as the destruction of “an entire civilization.”
